Let's Get Thrifty
I can say that there have been times I've come down with stuff-itus. It creeps up on me, and I don't know I've fallen under the weather until I've: a) run out of places to put things and b) wonder why I'm not saving more.
So, it's time to wise up. Throwing money at a problem is never the solution (though if someone was throwing money at me, it'd be nice!) and just feeds the craziness. Let's get smart about this and focus on what's real. Having the newest, shiniest fill-in-the blank is not really important. I decide what matters, and I am not my stuff. I'm just not.
And our stuff, quite honestly, means nothing. It's pretty, but am I really willing to give up my retirement or college funds for pretty? Or for time with my family? How many extra hours do I work so that I can drive a sleeker car, or have the latest gadget? This is time away from my family and time away from honoring myself. For me, I'd rather be in charge of my time. So it's time to do something about it. Let's see if we can create more with what we already have. And let's figure out what we can get for free. Let's get thrifty with it!
