The Man (Oh Yeah, Him.)

Remember that amazing man you fell for? We're talking about him. Warning: The truth is told here!

Nominate a Very Important Dad

The Evolution of Dad

Better Way Moms is partnering with some pretty amazing people over at The Evolution of Dad. If you haven't seen their website yet (www.evolutionofdad.com), I invite you to check it out.

And here is the brief "official" description of the movie, which is due to be released in the Spring: "The Evolution of Dad" is a thought-provoking documentary about what it means to be an involved, contemporary American father. The film explores how fatherhood has evolved over time, what its impact has been on family and society; and lastly, how fatherhood will likely continue to evolve. The movie combines interviews with both parenting / fatherhood experts and real dads to create a detailed snapshot about what life is like for fathers today.

The movie really highlights how dads today are going through a lot of what women have been dealing with for the past several decades: the desire to balance work and family in a satisfying way, sometimes against pretty intense social pressure (because balancing work and family isn't hard enough already!).

We are very lucky and happy that The Evolution of Dad is inviting Better Way Moms to write to them and nominate the Very Important Dads in our lives for inclusion in the "Dads Honor Roll," which will be at the end of the movie (before the final credits).

This is a wonderful opportunity to nominate the dads you love and who have made a difference for you in your own life. It's also a great time to let your co-workers and neighbors know about the movie and to let them know that they too can nominate dads.

Here are the details for the photo submissions:

1. All photos should be sent as high-res JPEGs to our special gmail account: evodadpics@gmail.com. All submissions need to be accompanied by a material release form, which can be found on our web site at www.evolutionofdad.com/materialrelease.pdf. The person providing the photo will need to print and sign it, then either scan it and return it in the email with the photo or fax it to (201) 389-6243. You may send a digital photograph of the form instead, as long as it's legible.
2. The Evolution of Dad is very partial to pics that are both unique and older — anything before 1975 would qualify as "older." Black-and-whites are especially compelling, but please know that all submissions are welcome, whether they fall within these suggestions or not. And yes, everyone should feel free to send as many as they would like.
3. The submission deadline is February 21, 2010.

They're also starting to collect personal stories from people for a new blog they're putting together called – you guessed it - "Personal Stories." It won't be ready for a few weeks, so for now everything will appear on their regular blog.

1. All submissions should be emailed to info@evolutionofdad.com Please include a note that you came from Better Way Moms.
2. There is no character or word limit, but submissoins may be edited as needed.
3. All writers will be identified by first name, so please note if you wish to remain anonymous.
4. They plan to post as many as possible, but reserve the right to reject submissions. An example of how the stories will be presented can be found by checking out Tim's story at www.evolutionofdad.com/hidden-treasures.

We hope you take this great opportunity to talk about your father, other fathers you know or your partners!

Thanks and good luck!
Sarah

My Wife's First Mother's Day: What Do I Get Her?
Everything I read says this is a big deal. Strangers at work and on the subway say this is a big deal. I get it, but what I don't get, is what I'm supposed to do about it...

Snoop Dogg's in The Miz-osque
Color me old school, but no little girl should ever write all that ass, hangin' out. Ever.

Try Not To Blink
Despite the amount of experience or research one invests into parenting, a child’s growth spurt never fails to surprise...

The MILF Factor
Men say she’s a mom they’d like to…get busy with. Hollywood tells us she should be able to fit back into her skinny jeans within two months...

No Leave
Certainly I’ve evolved as a Dad but yet I wonder if the uninhibited man of the past...shouldn’t still have a say at the table...

Control Issues
We're pretty strict....unless we want our family life to resemble a methodically moving train-wreck riddled with endless fussing and distracting drama, we have to put the hammer down...

Just Say NO to the Status Quo
So my mom says: "..this is not supposed to be an easy time in a marriage."...
