Conscious Parenting

Mom used to say "uh huh, yes dear" and we knew she wasn't listening. Time to wake up the mom in all of us.

Pajama Program

The Halloween decorations are out and there is a chill in the air. Yes, fall is officially here! While this is an exciting and fun time of year for most, it is also the beginning of "Danger Season" for thousands of needy children across the country. October 1st marked the official start of "Danger Season", a block of six cold and lonely months, where it is especially dangerous for children to go without warm clothing at bedtime.

The Pajama Program is an incredible organization that works tirelessly to provide new pajamas and books to children in need, many who are waiting and hoping to be adopted. Thousands of the children they help live in orphanages, group homes and shelters, some having been abused or abandoned. They have never enjoyed the simple comfort of having a mother or father tuck them in at bedtime and read to them. They are frightened at night and uncertain about what tomorrow will bring. The simple gift of a new pair of pajamas and a new book gives these children hope and shows them that there are people who do care.

Founded in 2001 by Genevieve Piturro, The Pajama Program has provided more than 400,000 pajamas and 140,000 books to children in need. The program depends on the generous support of volunteers, supporters, event hosts, pajama drive sponsors, and of course donations of cozy new pajamas and new children’s books. To find out how you can help bring a little warmth and a big smile to these children please visit www.pajamaprogram.org.

How Are We Supposed to Discipline Our Children?
What I read is that the style of parenting I've been using is going to, apparently, damage my children on a deep psychological level for years to come. Always a lovely thing to discover before breakfast...
