We all worry about our kids. We have different worries, "Will Susan fit in?" "Is she smart enough?" "Will someone hurt John?" But it turns out that even with all of our different concerns, the Media, including TV, movies and the Internet, consistently rates in the top three "biggest concerns" for most parents these days.
It's so easy to turn on the TV and let our kids plug in while we take care of "a few things" around the house. As our kids get older, they truly do need to know how to e-mail and surf this Internet. And we all know there is no way to stop them from seeing movies.
There can be a lot of guilt and fear associate with this though — "Am I being a bad parent?" "What about predators?" "Oh, I hate that actor, are they watching that again?" "Those sitcom kids are so horrible to their parents." Now we're even getting reports that social networking sites may actually damage their young brains and their ability to feel compassion.
What in the world are we supposed to do with all of this? We'll talk about all of it here.
